THE ROAD I SHOULD FOLLOW
It was a Saturday morning. Was it? Grandma had made bean cake (Moi-moi).... yea definitely a Saturday. I was with the family in the village for the Christmas celebration and mother had sent me on an errand to give something to my aunty. Coming back from my errand, I decided to take a 'shortcut' and got lost in the forest.
Standing beside a tree with my eyes scanning through the forest for a clue as to which road to follow as the rays of the new born sun searched under the branches. Insects chirping as the tree branches swayed as if in response to the melody of the birds which flew around the trees. Holding the breast of a ripe pawpaw, I bit it till it bled.
Staring at the scenery with awe, it happened..... my nose tickled
"What was that?" I sniffed. My brain became ecstatic with feeling as an aura kissed my nostrils.
"A girl?" "In this scary and lonely place?"
Suddenly, I saw the clouds shift! My day turned night as the sun and moon fought to smile on this majestic beauty. She looked at me and my heart became as light as an angel's kiss on a saintly soul........
She kept walking forward and I followed her as she walked in the beam of the winning moon of the eclipse. Getting to a cross road, there I stood not knowing which road to take, I must either choose a path or go on with her. I lingered over the choice but in the darkness of my doubts, she lifted the lamp of love and I saw her face...............The road I should follow.
